Evening atmosphere at Rosa bar, Sant Antoni Barcelona

Walk into Rosa on an ordinary Thursday night, and you'll notice something curious : at the same counter, someone orders their drink in Catalan while, right next to them, another conversation flows in English. A little further along, a group mixes French and Spanish without even noticing. That's simply an ordinary night at Rosa.

Two worlds, one bar

Rosa's regulars roughly fall into two groups that, here, become one. On one side, the expats who've found in Rosa a kind of refuge : somewhere to feel at home, where Rose speaks to them in their own language and there's always a familiar face. On the other, the neighbours of Sant Antoni, lifelong Catalans, who've made Rosa their regular stop, their habit, their trusted bar.

What's interesting is that these two worlds don't just coexist side by side, they mix. That's perhaps the true character of this neighbourhood bar in Sant Antoni, Barcelona : it's not a bar "for expats", nor just a "neighbourhood bar". It's both at once, every night.

The night that says it all

If there's one night that perfectly captures this spirit, it was Rosa's first anniversary, last March. That night, expats and locals, all regulars, mixed without distinction : chatting, introducing themselves, toasting together, as if they'd known each other for years. It wasn't planned, it wasn't forced : it simply happened, the way it does almost every night at Rosa, only that time with the full intensity of a celebration.

A neighbourhood bar in Sant Antoni built by everyone

Rose never set out to create a concept or a formula. She simply opened a place where she could speak her four languages naturally, and where anyone, no matter where they came from, could feel welcome. The result is this neighbourhood bar with an international soul: deeply rooted in Sant Antoni, and at the same time, open to the whole world.

Come and see for yourself

You don't need to speak Catalan, Spanish, French or English in particular, you just need to show up. The rest, as always at Rosa, takes care of itself.
